Lime paint is an ancient product, totally natural and environmental friendly.
Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, it offers a warm and welcoming effect.
Its characteristics:
- highly breathable
- resistant to thermal changes
- excellent thermal insulation
- aesthetic value obtained from the optical properties of calcite
- easy to maintain
Thanks to the breathability, it promotes the natural passage of water vapor in the walls, thus preventing the phenomena related to moisture. The high pH of lime makes this material a natural biocide resistant to molds and parasites. Lime paints are also by their nature antistatic and do not attract dust and dirt.
Its color is white, but with the addition of mineral pigments and soil, you can get a wide range of natural colors. One of the characteristics of the obtained tints is the birefringence, which is the splitting of the light rays. This explains why a lime tint, which after carbonation is formed by a blanket of billions of calcite crystals of tiny size, offers unique and unrepeatable aesthetic qualities.
“Lime is the noble of building binders. It is the product of the firing of limestone rocks, more or less pure, at temperatures between 900 and 1200 C. The shutdown and other working processes follow, on the base of the type and quality of the final product. Nowadays, the lime is produced industrially, in modern plants, and with controlled proceeding ; while in the past, it was the result of artisanal labour, heir to the ancestral knowledge of the art of building.” – Taken from the website www.forumcalce.it
